Gas is ? or should be ? dirt cheap because it's abundant and easy to extract, store and transport. Only politicians infected with the neo-Malthusian green mind virus make energy expensive, says Ben Pile.

No Publicity and tons of Shame.
This "Corrib Pipeline" operation is all part of the mysterious "great giveaway" of the Republic of Ireland's oil and gas resources, which according to the Article at http://www.indymedia.ie/article/90909 have been valued at 5.4 trillion Euros.
Why are the people of the Republic of Ireland being completely excluded from all decisions relating to this crucially important social matter: which very obviously has major implications for present and future generations?
According to Article 6.1 of Bunreacht na hEireann (The Basic Law of the Republic of Ireland), the people have the right "to decide all questions of national policy, according to the requirements of the common good".
Despite this very clear and core legal fact, the people are not even being consulted, let alone being provided with their legal right "in final appeal" to "decide all questions of national policy".
The full text of Article 6.1 of our written Constitution (Bunreacht na hEireann) reads as follows:
"All powers of government, legislative, executive and judicial, derive, under God, from the people, whose right it is to designate the rulers of the State and, in final appeal, to decide all questions of national policy, according to the requirements of the common good."
and shell were said to be 'retreating'......
The infamous Gerry Cowley is making a comeback, but opponents of the Corrib project need not get too excited.
Mr Cowley is now says " it was time to ‘move on’. An Bord Pleanála had decided to move the pipeline away from homes and he had been ‘vindicated’ on the issue of safety, he said."
Yet another turncoat?
