offsite link The Faux-Radicalism of Kneecap Wed Apr 30, 2025 19:00 | Andrew Doyle
Kneecap's vocal support for Hamas and call for fans to murder Tory MPs is obviously reprehensible. But it's just for show, says Andrew Doyle. The police shouldn't waste their time investigating rappers.

Dr Shahrar Ali was the Green Party justice spokesman when he was removed over his gender critical views. He won an unlawful discrimination claim in 2024. But the party then ejected him! He's now taking it to court again.

As a Catholic, Prof Roger Watson is sure Francis was appointed Pope for a reason. It's just that he's damned if he can figure out what it was. Certainly, it's not his liberalism that's drawn young people back to church.

rabble - a new underground newspaper hits the streets.

category dublin | arts and media | press release author Wednesday September 28, 2011 14:57author by antrophe - rabbleauthor email reddy at rabble dot ie Report this post to the editors

rabble is a non-profit, newspaper from the city’s underground. It’s collectively and independently run by volunteers. rabble aims to create a space for the passionate telling of truth, muck-raking journalism and well aimed pot-shots at illegitimate authority. We stand within, and with, Dublin as it struggles from below against the ghost of the Celtic Tiger and the state it left us in. We support those who fight with a new world in their hearts and encourage those who create cultures that seed hope in bleak times. Those involved know each other from alternative media and street mobilisations, from raves, gigs and the football terraces, or by just living in the village that is Dublin. We range from people living and raising their families in the city, to community and political activists, to artists, messers and mischief-makers. We Are rabble.

Whoever is writing the rabble magazine please don't try and include any more comedy, its not even funny. As a woman, you can see it's a couple of ian O' doherty wannabe (sorry it's true) comparisons going on here. The other stuff is solid enough but don't write or feign that you know how to write comedy. Many irish male writers fall flat on their face, few get to stand on the stage.
Beir bua and all that waffle

This is a good thing - but why reinvent the wheel, antrophe?
I quite liked Soundtracks for Them - why not a paper version of that?
Or at least pour the energy into revitalising it?

what opus is saying is
"good luck with your paper, but maybe don't be totally dublinocentric"

I wish you all the best with your paper too.

Fair enough question, but Soundtracksforthem was always more of a personal project with a fair rake of contributors chipping in over the years. There was never much of an audience either. rabble's an attempt to build something with a much larger audience, and a much more vital collective component at the working heart of it. If you email me off Indymedia, I'll fill you in some more on it.

Regards this Dublincentric thing, sorry - but that is a defacto statement of who the people involved in rabble are. That doesn't make us Dublincentric ,sure we have looked over the rim of the Pale - copies are have gone down to Cork, Galway, Limerick, Maynooth and Dundalk - and who knows where else along the way. Have a look at the first issue, there's a fair bit of coverage that is non-Dublin specific. Anyway, sure why not take a leaf out of Indymedia and get in touch with some ideas - it'd be very welcome.

But I can't find any pick-up points outside the locality on that address. Maybe you could add a few. Good luck with the effort.

Yeah fair enough. In terms of Cork, just from over the weekend there are lots of copies in plugd records and gulpd cafe in cork on Sat. Copies are meant to go into the camden palace, fas building art space, cork printmakers gallery & the quay co-op today. I'll update with exact details of the other spots later.
